We relocated from Perth, W.A., not only for a lifestyle change but with a desire to share our passion and enthusiasm for the celebration of food and wine which is so often overlooked in today's restaurant culture. Our aim is to provide a relaxed, welcoming and unpretentious dining experience set in warm familiar surrounds.
Our restaurant is our home, welcome.....
Our style of cuisine is simple yet elegant, Contemporary Tasmanian, providing the best of Tasmania's produce a perfect plate to sit on. From local (rare breed) Wessex Saddleback Pig to Coal River Valley Venison, the Monty's menu is re-designed each month to stay truly seasonal with Tasmania's climatic changes. We encourage our guests to encore the evening with possibly the best cheese selection of any restaurant in the country.
Pondering our wine list you will recognise some familiar faces, however we pride ourselves on personally selecting all wines, including some special little gems unique to our restaurant, sourced directly from wineries such as Woody Nook, Lancaster and Te-Aro Estate.

We were fortunate by luck, fate or destiny that this beautiful circa 1890's 'Bordello', with seperate dining spaces and open fires, chose us to re-ignite the passion within and restore her to her former glory.
The artwork around the restaurant is ours from home, most of which is from Nat's Dad and all contributes to the ambience that you've been welcomed to our place to dine.
